Last month the John Deere Corporate Art Collection took over the fourth floor of the Figge Museum in Davenport. Most note worthy for our readers is the fact that the collection includes a few Grant Wood peices--Fall Plowing being one of the most recognized. Also last month, Iowa City hosted a Grant Wood symposium for scholars to take a deeper look into the person Grant Wood. They looked at religious themes in his paintings, his sexuality and alcoholism, and his relationship to the community as seen through his work. One of the scholars, R. Trip Evans, has a new biography on Grant Wood that will be released this fall. READ MORE.
